Active ingredient: tetryzoline hydrochloride.


Areas of application: Eye irritation, eg from smoke, wind, chlorinated water and light; allergic inflammation of the eye, eg hay fever and pollen hypersensitivity.


Warnings: Contains benzalkonium chloride and phosphates. Note leaflet. Store drug out of reach of children. Pharmacy only.

Ophtalmin ® -N

For hay fever and pollen hypersensitivity

Ophtalmin ® -N helps against allergic inflammation of the eyes and eye irritation caused by smoke, wind, chlorinated water or light, for example. Ophtalmin ® -N also contains the ingredient hypromellose. Ophtalmin ® -N is available in dropper bottles.

  • The preparation is an ophthalmic (medicine used in the eye) with a decongestant effect. It contains the active substance tetryzoline hydrochloride.
  • If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 2 days, contact your doctor.
  • field of use
    • For reducing swelling of the mucous membranes in the case of non-infectious eye irritation, e.g. B. by smoke, wind, chlorinated water, light and allergic inflammations such. B. Hay fever with eye involvement.

dosage

  • Always use this medicine exactly as described or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Children from 2 years, teenagers and adults
    • Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, 1 drop is instilled into the conjunctival sac 2 to 3 times a day. Remove contact lenses beforehand (see "Notes for contact lens wearers").
  • duration of use
    • The preparation should only be used for mild irritation of the eyes. If there is no improvement within 48 hours, or if eye irritation or redness persists or worsens, stop using the product and consult a doctor.
    • Do not use the preparation for more than 5 days without medical advice.
    • Long-term use and overdose, especially in children, should be avoided.
    • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

 

  • If you use more than you should
    • In the event of an overdose, inform your doctor immediately.
    • When used in the eye, overdose symptoms are unlikely. Poisoning can occur as a result of significant overdose or accidental ingestion: The clinical picture of poisoning with the preparation can be confusing, since phases of stimulation can alternate with phases of suppression of the central nervous and cardiovascular systems.
    • Symptoms of central nervous system stimulation include anxiety, agitation, delusional perception, and convulsions. Symptoms resulting from central nervous system inhibition are low body temperature, lethargy, drowsiness and coma.
    • The following additional symptoms may occur:
      • widening or narrowing of the pupils,
      • nausea, vomiting,
      • increased salivation,
      • blue discoloration of the skin,
      • fever, sweating, paleness,
      • irregular heartbeat, palpitations, heartbeat too fast or too slow, cardiac arrest,
      • increase or shock-like decrease in blood pressure,
      • accumulation of fluid in the lung tissue,
      • Respiratory disorders, respiratory arrest.
    • In children in particular, overdoses caused by ingestion often lead to central nervous effects with cramps and coma, slow heartbeat, respiratory arrest and an increase in blood pressure, which can be replaced by a drop in blood pressure.
    • In case of poisoning, monitoring and therapy in the hospital is necessary.

 

  • If you forgot the application
    • Do not apply a double dose to make up for a forgotten application.
