SINTUSS Purpose:

SINTUSS is a product for the treatment of dry cough for children and adults. The product of Biovet has the active ingredient butamirate citrate; it is an effective means of suppressing the cough center in the brain. The healing solution is intended for short-term use.

How to use

The intake of SINTUSS is in doses and duration, depending on the patient's condition and age. The normal duration of intake is one week. If within 7 days the patient does not feel better or his condition worsens, he should consult the doctor about the use of another drug.

The syrup is taken three times a day, and the doses are different depending on the age of the user. Children aged 3-6 years take three times 5 ml of syrup; at 7-12 years - 3x10 ml; at 12-18 years 3x15ml, and adults three or four times 15 ml.

These doses should not be increased arbitrarily. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea may occur. If a dose is missed, the syrup is taken at the next usual hour without doubling the compensation dose.

Possible side effects:

Taking SINTUSS can cause in relatively rare cases the named symptoms of overdose: dizziness, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, upset stomach. Allergic reactions and urticaria are not excluded.

When NOT to be used:

SINTUSS is not used in case of allergy to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients.

The syrup is not suitable for children under three years of age. It is possible in certain cases to use in this age group, but only under medical supervision.

The drug is not suitable for so. productive cough or if the patient has already started taking sputum medication.

It is not desirable to use SINTUSS by pregnant women during the first trimester; at other times it is allowed only after an explicit recommendation from a doctor. This is also the case with breastfeeding mothers.

The syrup may cause dizziness and poor coordination, which would interfere with safe driving or heavy machinery.

Interaction with other drugs

SINTUSS is not applied in parallel with expectorants. The combination leads to retention and accumulation of secretions in the respiratory system, and subsequently to the development of infection.
