  • The indications for the use of the syrup Normalac constipation and hepatic encephalopathy treatment.

Ingredients:
15 ml of syrup contains 10 g of lactulose. Action: The product contains a synthetic disaccharide, which can not be digested and absorbed in the small intestine. The medicine reaches the large intestine unchanged, by which under the influence of bacteria is degraded to lactic acid, acetic acid and formic acid. The presence of acid lowers the pH and the osmotic effect that increases peristalsis.The formulation also reduces the absorption of ammonium ions and improves the balance of intestinal flora. It does not affect the absorption of mineral ions. Laxative effect is slow and usually occurs after 1-2 days after taking the full dose. Indications: Constipation.Hepatic encephalopathy. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Bowel obstruction. Galactosemia.Used with caution in diabetes. Undesirable effects: When using the drug in high doses may experience abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloating, flatulence. With long-term use, there is the possibility of electrolyte deficiency. Dosage: Oral. Adults in hepatic encephalopathy 90-190 ml per day in 2-3 doses; constipation starting dose is 20 ml per day, then 10 ml per day as a maintenance dose. In some cases, the initial dose should be increased to 30-45 ml. Children 5-15 ml per day depending on the age and type ailments. Infants: 0.5-1.0 ml / kg once a day, preferably before feeding.
