Acetylsalicylic acid tablets are not only proven painkillers, but also have special properties that affect the flow of blood. The blood thinner ASS 100 is a cyclooxygenase inhibitor that prevents the thrombocytes (blood platelets) from clumping together and thus clogging the vessels. ASS 100 achieves this by blocking the enzyme cyclooxygenase. This in turn is responsible for the formation of thromboxane A1, which the blood platelets need to clump together. Acetylsalicylic acid is therefore an effective means of preventing blood clots and is used in patients with an increased risk of clot formation.

ASS 100 tablets are suitable for the following complaints or indications:

• Unstable angina pectoris: as part of standard therapy
• Acute heart attack: for the treatment and prevention of another heart attack (reinfarction prophylaxis)
• After operations on arterial blood vessels
• For the prevention of temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain and cerebral infarction after the occurrence of precursor stages

ASS 100 tablets are blood thinning medications that are by no means suitable for the treatment of pain and fever, but only for the therapy and prevention of blood clots in patients at risk. As a rule, 1 tablet is taken once a day and after a meal together with sufficient water. In the case of heart attack prophylaxis with acetylsalicylic acid, however, the daily dose is 3 tablets. The drug is suitable for long-term treatment. However, this should definitely be discussed with a doctor.
