Use of ISCADOR®
ISCADOR is administered as a syringe (injection).

Similar to an insulin injection, it is injected into the subcutaneous tissue, which you as the patient can do yourself. Please note,
however, that you should give at least the first injection together with your doctor.

Your doctor can show you where to inject and what to do. Always follow your doctor’s instructions.

As a rule, ISCADOR is injected two to three times a week.

It has proven useful to inject in the morning.

What should you watch out for when injecting?
ISCADOR ampoules are to be stored in the refrigerator. It is advisable to briefly warm the ampoule in your hand before use.

Suitable injection sites are:

• Abdominal wall
• Upper side of the thigh

Local inflammatory reactions, for example in the form of reddening around the injection site (up to a maximum of 5 cm in diameter), can occur temporarily and
are not a cause for concern, but rather an indication of a normal reaction to the administration of ISCADOR. This
local reaction usually subsides in one to two days.

Change the puncture site regularly to avoid additional skin reactions and be careful not to inject into inflamed skin areas or radiation fields.

The following utensils are required for each injection (not included):

• A small syringe (2 ml)
• A short, thin needle (e.g. 0.4 x 19 mm, No. 20)
• Alcohol swabs
• Maybe a small plaster

Preparation
Have the necessary utensils ready.
Place the needle (cannula) with the cap on the syringe and press it firmly onto the syringe.

1. Open the ampoule
Remove the liquid in the ampoule head by tapping it gently.

Break open the ampoule on the neck under the colored dot with the help of a swab. To do this, hold the colored point upwards and bend the
ampoule backwards with light pressure.

Drawing up the injection liquid Remove the needle cap and draw the contents of the ampoule over the needle into the syringe.

Now the excess air has to be removed from the syringe. To do this, hold the syringe vertically with the needle pointing upwards.

By tapping the syringe lightly, air bubbles on the side or bottom of the syringe can be lifted upwards.

The air can then be removed by slowly pushing the plunger.

3. Subcutaneous injection (under the skin)
Your doctor will tell you the best place to inject.

• Disinfect the injection site with an alcohol swab.
• Take a fold of skin between two fingers of one hand.
• If possible, pierce the skin quickly and decisively at a 45 ° angle.
• Now let the skin fold a little looser and inject the contents of the ampoule slowly and evenly.
• After the syringe is empty, hold the alcohol swab to the puncture site and pull the needle out of the skin.
• Press the swab over the injection site for a few seconds. If necessary, you can cover the puncture site with a small plaster.

Reactions
General reactions
After the injection of ISCADOR, there may be an above-average rise in body temperature and a local
inflammatory reaction at the injection site, especially at the start of therapy .

This local inflammatory reaction can vary greatly in size or it can even be absent.

Local inflammatory reaction
There may be a slight local inflammation around the injection site. This manifests itself in a clear reddening of the skin, which is out of focus. At the same time, itching can occur.

After about 4 hours, the edge of the local reaction becomes smoother. It may be itchy again.

10 hours after the injection, the edge of the local reaction has flattened and is slowly disappearing. The reddened area can spread further.

Injection checklist

• Note the order of the injections (ampoule number in the box).
• Briefly warm the ampoule in your hand before injecting.
• Before injecting, make sure that there are no more air bubbles in the syringe.
• Disinfect the injection site with an alcohol swab.
• Take a fold of skin between two fingers of one hand.
• If possible, pierce the skin quickly and decisively at a 45 ° angle.
• Let the fold of skin loosen up a little and inject the contents of the syringe slowly and evenly.
• After the syringe is empty, hold the alcohol swab to the puncture site and pull the needle out of the skin.
• Press the swab over the injection site for a few seconds. If necessary, you can cover the puncture site with a small plaster.
• Put the needle cap back on the syringe to prevent injuries and throw away the used syringe in the trash.
