Scientific studies and extensive field studies in Germany and Scandinavia demonstrate the positive influence of dietary supplementation with Equitop Pronutrin® in cases of clinical symptoms or gastroscopic evidence of gastric mucosal lesions and ulcers.

An Equitop Pronutrin® diet is therefore always indicated when gastroscopically diagnosed gastric mucosal lesions or when the following suspected clinical symptoms are found after other causes have been excluded:

• weight loss
• performance reduction
• Apathetic behavior
• Low or selective appetite
• Diarrhea
• Soft or hard stools
• Recurrent or postprandial colic
• Bruxism (chewing, grinding of teeth)
• ruktus
• Frequent flehmen

And for foals additionally:

• reflux
• salivation
• interrupting suction
• colic with supine position

To avoid relapses or before known stress situations, Equitop Pronutrin® can also be fed as a preventative measure.

Mode of action
The dietary component in Equitop Pronutrin® is Apolectol®, a patented pectin-lecithin-glycerin complex. Equitop Pronutrin® contains 93% Apolectol®.

The properties of the individual components of Apolectol® complement each other to provide a comprehensive dietary effect. The pectins counteract the over-acidification of the stomach contents by prolonging the postprandial pH increase and inhibiting bile acid reflux. At the same time, pectins stabilize the natural mucus.

The lecithin-glycerin component strengthens the hydrophobic protective layer of the stomach lining.

In this way, Apolectol® protects the sensitive mucous membrane in two ways and in a natural way: It stabilizes or regenerates the barrier against stomach acid and pepsin and also counteracts over-acidification in the stomach.

Feeding recommendation

1 x daily 50 g per 100 kg body weight mixed with the manger feed.

For suckling foals, the required amount of Equitop Pronutrin® (25 g – 50 g) is mixed with 3 times the amount of lukewarm water. After 2 to 3 minutes, the resulting porridge can be administered directly into the foal's mouth using a syringe or plastic bottle.

Horses generally take Equitop Pronutrin® well. However, many animals show a reduced appetite due to stomach problems. Some also have to get used to the new taste. In these cases, it is usually helpful to give a reduced dose twice a day (if feed intake is delayed or poor, the dose can be divided into 25 g per 100 kg body weight twice a day or halved to get used to it and increased over 2 to 3 days to the recommended amount (measuring cup inside) and, if necessary, also mix with the animal's favorite food or with moist food, such as wheat bran (with molasses if necessary) or mash (linseed, wheat bran, pressed oats).

Duration of feeding
Equitop Pronutrin® should be administered over a period of at least 2 weeks. If the horse's condition has normalized or improved, the diet should still be continued for a further 2 weeks to reduce the risk of relapse. If necessary, continuous or interval administration is also possible. The veterinarian must decide on any additional measures that may be necessary (e.g. regarding housing, training, feeding) or drug therapy.

Equitop Pronutrin® does not contain any doping-related substances. It can be administered before and during a competition without any concerns.
