EBENOL 0.5% hydrocortisone cream Indication / application

• The preparation contains a synthetically produced hormone from the adrenal cortex, a so-called glucocorticoid. It is intended for use on the skin.
• The preparation is used for the relief of moderate inflammatory skin diseases. For short-term (maximum 2 weeks) external use in adults and children from the age of 6.

• Always use this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The recommended dose for adults and children over 6 years of age
  • At the start of treatment, you generally apply the cream 1 to 2 times a day.
  • When the clinical picture improves, a single application per day is usually sufficient.
• The recommended dose for children under 6 years of age
  • Children up to the age of 6 (under 6 years of age) may only be treated with the drug if prescribed by a doctor. The doctor decides on the frequency of application (usually one application per day is sufficient) and on the duration of application (maximum 3 weeks).

• How long can you use the preparation?
  • The duration of treatment depends on the type, severity and course of the disease.
  • Do not use the cream for more than 2 weeks without medical advice.
  • Be sure to consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen for more than 2 weeks.

• If you have used too much,
  • remove the excess from the skin with a soft cloth.

  • With long-term (longer than 2 weeks) large-area (more than 1/10 of the body surface) use, especially under final bandages or on severely damaged skin, the active ingredient can be absorbed into the body and thus cause side effects, such as: B. • If you forget an application,

Contraindications

• You must not use the preparation at

  • Fungal attack (mycoses)
  • bacterial skin infections, acne vulgaris, steroid acne

• Do not use the cream if you are allergic to hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

• Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking or using any medicine.
  • You may only use the preparation during pregnancy and breastfeeding if strictly indicated by your doctor.
  • During pregnancy, especially in the first three months of pregnancy, and if you are breastfeeding, you should not use the medicine extensively (more than 1/10 of the body surface) or long-term (longer than four weeks).
  • With long-term use, growth disorders within the uterus cannot be ruled out.
  • In late pregnancy treatment, the fetus is at risk of atrophy of the adrenal cortex.
  • Glucocorticoids pass into breast milk. If there is a compelling indication, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
  • Newborns whose mothers were given long-term and / or extensive treatment with corticoids during pregnancy or breastfeeding should be monitored more closely for possible undesirable sequelae.
  • Do not apply the preparation to the breast area during breastfeeding to avoid unwanted oral ingestion by the infant.
