Indication/ Miconazole nitrate, mycoses cream Application

• The drug is a fungicidal drug for the external treatment of fungal diseases of the skin (antifungal).
• Miconazole is used for fungal infections of the skin, skin folds, between the fingers and toes, and superficial yeast infections. The cream is used on babies, children and adults.

Miconazole nitrate, mycoses cream dosage

• Always use this medicine exactly as described or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• dosage
  • Wash the affected skin areas thoroughly before each application and dry them carefully. Apply a small amount of cream to the diseased skin and the surrounding skin area (approx. 1 to 2 cm) twice a day (morning and evening if possible).
  • If powder and cream are used, it is recommended to use both dosage forms once a day.

• duration of use
  • The total treatment time is 2 to 6 weeks on average.
  • Signs of the fungal disease usually subside significantly within the first 7 days of starting treatment with miconazole. If the signs of the fungal disease do not go away within the first 7 days after starting treatment, you must consult a doctor.
  • To avoid recurrence, treatment should be continued until the fungal culture is negative, at least one week after all symptoms have disappeared.
  • There should be a treatment-free period of 3 - 4 days between the last application and the creation of a fungal culture, so that any Residues of active ingredient do not affect the culture.
  • Do not use miconazole for more than 7 days without medical advice.

• If you use more of the medicine than you should
  • Excessive use may cause skin reactions, which usually resolve after stopping therapy. In case of accidental ingestion of the cream, please contact your doctor.

• If you forget to use the medicine
  • Do not apply a double dose to make up for a forgotten application.

• If you stop using the medicine
  • If you stop treatment too early, the fungal infection may come back.

• Massage the cream in with your finger until it is absorbed.
• After using the cream, you should wash your hands thoroughly (exception: treatment of the hands).

• Like all medicines, this can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
  • Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people)
    • Hypersensitivity reactions with itching, swelling and reddening of the skin; severe courses with shortness of breath and drop in blood pressure.
    • hives, contact dermatitis, rash, burning skin, dermatitis.
    • Skin irritation, sensation of warmth.
    • Localized decrease in normal skin color.

• Use together with other medicines
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines.
  • Miconazole can inhibit the metabolism of drugs that are broken down by the liver (enzymes cytochrome P450 2C9 and 3A4). After application to the skin, interactions are only to be expected in very rare cases.
  • The following medicines should be used with caution as the effect and/or side effects may be increased or prolonged:
    • anticoagulants, e.g. B. warfarin (to monitor blood clotting levels).
    • certain medicines used to treat high blood sugar levels, e.g. B. sulphonylureas (monitoring of blood sugar levels).
    • certain medicines used to treat epilepsy, e.g. B. Phenytoin (monitoring of plasma levels).

• The drug must not be used
  • if you are allergic to miconazole nitrate, related antifungal medicines, benzoic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

pregnancy Miconazole nitrate, mycoses cream and breast feeding period

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. Miconazole applied to the skin is absorbed into the body to a very small extent (less than 1%).
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should only use Miconazole after consulting a doctor.
• lactation
  • There are no data on whether the active ingredient is excreted in breast milk.
  • Please do not apply the cream to the breast area while breastfeeding. This will prevent the baby from coming into direct contact with the cream.
