ASA or acetylsalicylic acid is a painkiller that belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and diclofenac. It relieves minor pains such as headaches and body aches and has an antipyretic effect. Because of its blood-thinning properties, ASA is also prescribed in small amounts to prevent heart attacks and strokes. It is also used in the acute treatment of infarctions. ASS-ratiopharm Protect also uses these properties to better protect you from blood clots in the future.

Please take the tablets without chewing, preferably before a meal, with plenty of liquid (e.g. a glass of water). For treatment of acute myocardial infarction, the first enteric-coated tablet should be crushed or chewed. ASS-ratiopharm PROTECT 100 mg is intended for long-term use. The duration of the usage will be decided by the medicating doctor.
