Indication / application

• This preparation is a specific anti-yeast agent used to treat yeast infections of the oral cavity (oral thrush).
• It is used to treat nystatin-sensitive yeast infections of the oral cavity (oral thrush).

dosage

• Always use this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has discussed. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is:
  • Take the suspension gel 3 - 6 times a day, in severe cases every 2 hours 1g of gel (1 measuring spoon).

• Duration of application
  • During the treatment of the oral thrush, there is a significant improvement within a few days. However, treatment should be continued for at least 2 days after the symptoms have subsided.
  • However, the duration of treatment should not exceed 28 days.

• If you use more than you should:
  • Even if you have used large amounts, no discomfort is to be expected.

• If you forget to use:
  • Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. You should continue the treatment as normal at the next prescribed time and in the prescribed or indicated dosage.

• If you stop taking:
  • To achieve the desired therapeutic success, please adhere to the recommended duration of treatment or to the instructions for use prescribed by a doctor. Treatment should not be interrupted or prematurely terminated without consulting a doctor.

• If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

• The suspension gel is left in the mouth for a few minutes, gently moved back and forth and then swallowed.
• For the treatment of yeast infections of the oral cavity, it has proven to be expedient to additionally coat the affected areas with a cotton swab to which the suspension gel has previously been applied. Due to its adhesive properties, the gel is suitable for treatment in the oral cavity.
• In the case of babies, it makes sense to put ½ - 1 measuring spoon (½ - 1 g) in the oral cavity before and after the meal. This allows the effect of nystatin in the oral cavity to be optimized. In the case of infants, too, the aim should be for the gel to remain in the oral cavity for as long as possible.

Side effects

• Like all medicines, this medicine can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.
• Side effects are not to be expected with normal doses. Even high doses usually do not cause any symptoms.
• Very rare, may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people
  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Some components can cause hypersensitivity reactions, including late reactions.
  • If you notice any signs of a hypersensitivity reaction, stop treatment and contact your doctor.
• If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.

Interactions

• Use with other medicines
  • Interactions with other drugs are not yet known.

Contraindications

• The drug must not be used
  • if you are allergic to nystatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

pregnancy and breast feeding period

• Nystatin, the active ingredient in the suspension gel, is not absorbed due to its molecular size when given orally in normal doses, does not cross the placental barrier and is not to be expected in breast milk.
• This preparation can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
