  • TRIBIOTIC ointment is in small wounds, scratches and cuts, threatened or complicated by bacterial infection.

 

TRIBIOTIC ointment wound care Composition:


1 g of ointment contains 10 mg of bacitracin as zinc salt, 5 mg of neomycin as sulphate and 0.833 mg of polymyxin B as sulphate.

Action:
The preparation uses the synergy of action of three bactericidal antibiotics. Bacitracin is a polypeptide antibiotic, acting mainly against gram-positive bacteria (including Streptococcus spp.). Neomycin - an aminoglycoside antibiotic - works, among others on Enterobacteriaceae (especially Proteus indole-positive and Klebsiella spp.) and Staphylococcus aureus. Polymixin B is active mainly against Gram-negative bacteria, especially Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacteriaceae.



TRIBIOTIC ointment wound care Indications:


Minor wounds, scratches and cuts at risk of or complicated by bacterial infection.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the preparation ingredients, severe renal failure, damage to the hearing organ. Use very carefully on large areas of damaged skin (over 20% of the body surface), oozing lesions and varicose ulcers; do not use for a long time due to the developing bacterial resistance and the possibility of toxic effects and superinfection with yeasts. Use during pregnancy only when the expected benefits justify the potential risk to the fetus.

Side effects:
Sometimes skin rash, itching and superinfections with resistant bacteria or Candida yeasts. Application to large areas of damaged skin leads to nephro-, oto- and neurotoxicity due to the absorption of neomycin.

TRIBIOTIC ointment wound care Interactions:
If the preparation is absorbed: with diuretics (ethacrynic acid, furosemide), other aminoglycoside antibiotics, some cephalosporins, oto- and nephrotoxic effects increase; Blockade of the neuromuscular junction may occur with narcotic analgesics, muscle relaxants and anesthetics.

TRIBIOTIC ointment wound care Dosage:
A small amount of the ointment is applied 1-3 times a day to the cleaned wound site. It is not recommended to use for more than 7 days.
