Composition of Famotidine Ranigast 20mg:

Active substance: famotidine (Famotidinum). Each coated tablet contains 20 mg of famotidine and excipients: tablet core - pregelatinized starch, powdered cellulose, magnesium stearate, talc, coating composition - hypromellose, talc, titanium dioxide, macrogol 6000, cochineal red lake (E124).

The indication for the use of Famotidine Ranigast 20 mg is heartburn, indigestion (dyspepsia) and hyperacidity. The preparation is intended for short-term symptomatic treatment. The active substance contained in the drug, i.e. famotidine, is an inhibitor of histamine H2 receptors. It inhibits the secretion of hydrochloric acid. The drug usually lasts for 10-12 hours. The drug is intended for adults.

The medicinal product Famotidna Ranigast 20mg indicated for use in adults in the short-term symptomatic treatment of gastric ailments that are not related to organic gastrointestinal disease - indigestion, heartburn, hyperacidity.

Store the product out of reach of children, at room temperature. It is recommended to protect against moisture and light. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: the use of the drug in pregnant women is not recommended, unless absolutely necessary, and the decision is made by the doctor after assessing the potential benefits in relation to the possible risks. Breastfeeding women should discontinue breastfeeding if using the drug. Due to the possibility of side effects from the central nervous system (e.g. dizziness), people driving vehicles or operating machines should exercise caution. The drug contains cochineal red (E124) - it is an ingredient that may cause allergic reactions.

Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the drug and a history of hypersensitivity to other substances from the group of H2 receptor antagonists. Do not use in case of renal failure. Do not use in children and adolescents.

Side effects:
Some people who take the drug may experience side effects. Blood and lymphatic system disorders: very rarely - pancytopenia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, neutropenia. Immune system disorders: very rarely - hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylaxis, angioedema, bronchospasm). Metabolism and nutrition disorders: uncommon: anorexia. Psychiatric disorders: very rarely - transient mental disorders (e.g. depression, anxiety, agitation, disorientation, confusion and hallucinations), decreased libido, insomnia.

Nervous system disorders: often - headache, dizziness; uncommon - taste disturbance; very rarely - convulsions, grand mal seizures (especially in patients with impaired renal function), paresthesia, somnolence. Cardiac disorders: very rarely - atrioventricular block after intravenous administration of an H2-receptor antagonist, prolongation of the QT interval (mainly in patients with impaired renal function). Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders: very rare - interstitial pneumonia, sometimes fatal. Disorders of the stomach and intestines: often - constipation, diarrhea; uncommon - dry mouth, nausea and / or vomiting, abdominal discomfort or fullness, gas.

Hepatobiliary disorders: very rarely - disturbances in the activity of liver enzymes, hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice. Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: uncommon - rash, pruritus, urticaria; very rare - excessive hair loss, Stevens-Johnson syndrome / toxic epidermal necrolysis (sometimes fatal). Musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders: very rarely - joint pain, muscle cramps. Reproductive system and breast disorders: very rarely - impotence. General disorders and administration site conditions: uncommon - fatigue; very rarely - tightness in the chest. In addition, rare cases of gynecomastia have been reported with the incidence not higher in controlled clinical trials than in those treated with placebo.

Dosage of Famotidine Ranigast 20mg tablets:

Use as directed by your doctor or according to the directions on the leaflet. In adults, when symptoms occur, the usual dose is 20 mg of famotidine per day (one tablet). If symptoms recur, you can take 40 mg of famotidine per day (2 times one 20 mg tablet). The maximum daily dose is 40 mg (two tablets). Swallow the tablet whole, wash down with a little water. Can be used regardless of meals. Do not use for more than two weeks without consulting a doctor. If the symptoms have not disappeared after two weeks of using the drug, consult a doctor as soon as possible. Caution should be exercised in the case of people with impaired renal function, it is recommended to consult a doctor before starting treatment (possibly, that it will be necessary to halve the dose or extend the dosing interval to 36-48 hours). No dose adjustment is required for the elderly.
