Indication / Acute Sore Throat application

• The preparation contains the active substance benzydamine hydrochloride, which achieves the therapeutic effectiveness.
• The medicine is used to treat acute sore throats in adults and children aged 6 years and over.
• Contact your doctor if you feel worse, have a fever, or if you don't feel better after 3 days.

dosage

• Always use this medicine exactly as described or as your doctor or pharmacist has discussed with you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The recommended dose is:
  • Adults and children from 6 years:
    • For pain relief, slowly dissolve a lozenge in your mouth 3 times a day.
    • Do not use more than 3 lozenges a day.
  • Children from 6 to 11 years:
    • The medicine should only be used under adult supervision.

• Treatment should not last longer than 7 days.
• If the symptoms worsen or if there is no improvement after 3 days, if you have a fever, severe sore throat or other symptoms, please contact the doctor treating you.

• If you use more than you should:
  • If you accidentally use too many lozenges, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately or go to the nearest hospital. Take the pack with you, regardless of whether it still contains lozenges or not.
  • In very rare cases, after oral administration of benzydamine at a dose approx. 100 times higher than that of the lozenges, excitement, seizures, sweats, impaired movement coordination (ataxia), tremors and vomiting have occurred in children.

Side effects

• Like all medicines, this medicine can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.
• The following side effects have been observed:
  • Very common: may affect more than 1 in 10 people
  • Common: may affect up to 1 in 10 people
  • Uncommon: may affect up to 1 in 100 people
  • Rare: may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people
  • Very rare: may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people
  • Not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data
• Occasionally:
  • sensitive skin to sunlight (causes rash or sunburn).
• Rarely:
  • Burning mouth and dry mouth. If this happens to you, take sips of water to reduce the effects.
• Very rare:
  • Sudden swelling of the mouth, throat or mucous membranes (angioedema, the symptoms are difficulty breathing or swallowing, rash, hives or swelling of the face, hands and feet, eyes, lips and / or tongue, dizziness).
  • Difficulty breathing (laryngospasm or bronchospasm).
• Not known:
  • Allergic reactions (hypersensitivity).
  • Signs of a severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock) may include shortness of breath (difficulty breathing), chest pain, tightness of the chest, dizziness, feeling weak, severe itching of the skin, palpable lumps on the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue and / or the throat and potentially life threatening.
  • Local loss of sensitivity of the oral mucosa (hypoaesthesia, oral).

• Use with other medicines
  • Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking / using, have recently taken / used any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
  • No interactions are known.
• Use with food and drink
  • Food and drinks have no influence.

Contraindications

• The drug must not be used
  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to benzydamine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

pregnancy and breast feeding period

• Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, if you suspect you may be pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
• The preparation should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Warnings and Precautions
  • Please talk to your doctor before using the preparation,
    • if you have phenylketonuria.
    • if you have or have suffered from asthma.
    • if you are hypersensitive to salicylates (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid and salicylic acid) or other anti-inflammatory medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAs).
    • if after using the drug the pain in the throat gets worse or does not improve after 3 days, fever, severe sore throat or other symptoms occur. You should then contact your doctor.
  • Children:
    • Due to the dosage form, the preparation may only be used in children from 6 years of age.

• Driving and using machines
  • The medicine does not affect your ability to drive or use machines.
