  • The medicinal product Pyrantelum Owix 250mg/5ml is an oral suspension with an apricot flavor. It is a drug intended for use in children and adults in the case of roundworm infections, including human roundworm or pinworms.

Pyrantelum Owix Composition:

Active substance: pyrantel. 5ml of oral suspension contains pyrantel (in the form of pyrantel embonate) - 250mg and other ingredients: sodium benzoate (E 211), carmellose sodium, sorbitol 70% (E 420), glycerol, aluminum-magnesium silicate, polysorbate 80, povidone, apricot flavor, simethicone emulsion, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Action:

The active substance contained in Pyrantelum 250mg/5ml, pyrantel, affects the muscles of intestinal parasites (roundworms). When the parasites are immobilized, intestinal movements cause their removal. The advantage of using pyrantel is, among others, the fact that it does not irritate the intestines and does not contribute to the movement of worms. The drug works on parasites in the early stages and on their mature forms, but does not show any effect on larvae during their migration in tissues.

Application of Pyrantelum Owix without prescription:

The medicinal product Pyrantelum 250mg/5 ml oral suspension is indicated for use in intestinal roundworm infections: pinworm, human roundworm, duodenal hookworm, American hookworm. Intended for use in children and adults.

Additional information:

Store the product out of reach of children, at room temperature. Caution is recommended when using the drug in children under 2 years of age, in people with liver disorders, in malnourished patients, in patients with anemia. The drug contains sorbitol (5 ml of the drug contains 3.06 g of sorbitol 70%), which may cause a mild laxative effect. People with intolerance to some sugars should report this to their doctor.

Contraindications:

Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the drug. Do not use in case of using piperazine, as well as during the treatment of myasthenia (skeletal muscle disease). It is not recommended for use in pregnant or lactating women.

Side effects:

While taking the drug, side effects may occur: gastrointestinal disorders: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, appetite disorders, diarrhea, increased activity of liver enzymes; nervous system disorders: drowsiness or insomnia, headaches and dizziness; skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: allergic skin rashes.

Pyrantelum Owix dosage:

Use as directed by your doctor. Take orally during or immediately after a meal. Shake before use. It is not necessary to administer laxatives before administering the medicine. Dosage for adults and children weighing more than 10 kg: in the case of ascariasis: as a rule, a single dose is effective, but if there is no improvement, the dose should be repeated after 2-3 weeks; in the case of enterobiasis: a single dose of 11 mg per kg of body weight, the dose should be repeated after 2-3 weeks; in the case of infection with duodenal hookworm or American hookworm: a dose of 11 mg per kg of body weight should be administered once daily for 3 consecutive days. A detailed table with the drug dosage depending on body weight is included in the leaflet. It is recommended to use the measuring cup included in the package to measure the doses. In the case of enterobiasis, it is recommended to carry out the treatment for the entire family of the patient, at the same time reminding about the rules of hygiene.
