Indication :

The medicine is a bronchosecretolytic (medicine for dissolving mucus in respiratory diseases with thick mucus).
The drops are used:
- For expectorant treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs with thick mucus.

Dosage :

Always take this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the recommended dose is:
- Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age take 23 to 46 drops 3 times daily (corresponding to 24 to 48 mg bromhexine hydrochloride daily).
- Adolescents between 12 and 14 years of age and patients weighing less than 50 kg take 23 drops 3 times a day (equivalent to 24 mg bromhexine hydrochloride daily).
- Alcohol-free drops with 12 mg/ml are available for children under 12 years of age.

Duration of application:
- The duration of use depends on the type and severity of the disease and should be decided by the treating doctor.
- If your condition worsens or does not improve after 4-5 days, you should consult a doctor.

If you have taken more than you should
- In the event of an overdose, no signs of illness beyond normal side effects are usually to be expected. If serious signs of illness occur, circulatory monitoring and, if necessary, treatment based on the signs of illness may be necessary.
- Taking large amounts of the drug can lead to alcohol poisoning, especially in young children; In this case, there is a risk to life, which is why you should consult a doctor immediately.

If you forget to take it
- Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.

If you stop taking it

Countermeasures
- If the first signs of a hypersensitivity reaction appear (see above), the drops must not be taken again. In this case, please contact the nearest doctor.

Interactions :

Taking together with other medicines
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
- Bromhexine/antitussives
  - When bromhexine and cough suppressants (antitussives) are used in combination, a dangerous build-up of secretions can occur due to the restricted cough reflex, so the indication for this combination treatment should be made with particular care.
Take with food and drinks
- There are no special features to consider.

Contraindications :

The drops must not be taken
- if you are allergic to bromhexine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
The drops must not be used in children under 12 years due to the alcohol content.

Warnings and Precautions
- Very rarely, severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell syndrome have been reported in connection with the use of bromhexine. If changes to the skin and mucous membranes occur, medical advice should be sought immediately and the use of bromhexine stopped.
- You may only take the drops after consulting your doctor
  - some rare diseases of the bronchi that are associated with excessive accumulation of secretions (e.g. malignant cilia syndrome). Bromhexine should only be used under medical supervision because of a possible secretion build-up.
  - impaired kidney function or severe liver disease (the drops 8 are then used at longer intervals or in a reduced dose). If kidney function is severely impaired, an accumulation of bromhexine breakdown products formed in the liver must be expected.
- Liver function should be monitored occasionally, particularly during long-term treatment.

Ability to drive and use machines
- There are no special features to consider.
