Espumisan is a popular drug containing simethicone, an active substance that effectively eliminates the problem of accumulation of excess intestinal gas manifested by an unpleasant feeling of bloating.

Espumisan composition:

1 capsule contains 40 mg simethicone

The other ingredients Espumisan:

methyl parahydroxybenzoate, gelatin, glycerol 85%, sunset yellow (E 110), quinoline yellow (E 104)

Espumisan action, or how espumisan works:

Espumisan is a drug well known and often chosen by our patients, primarily due to its effectiveness and help in the presence of annoying flatulence caused by excessive accumulation of gases in the intestines. Simetikon - the active substance of the drug, effectively reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles contained in food and mucus of the gastrointestinal tract, causing them to crack and absorb through the intestinal walls or expulsion.

Espumisan is indicated as an emergency medicine for symptomatic gastrointestinal disorders associated with excessive gas accumulation (flatulence), also after surgery. Auxiliary agent in preparing patients for abdominal examination (radiological, ultrasound, gastroscopic). In studies using double contrast as an additive administered together with a contrast agent.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the preparation ingredients and 4-hydroxybenzoate. Drops should not be used in children until the age of 1 month. Do not drink carbonated beverages while using the preparation.

Espumisan dosage:

Orally. In states of excessive gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract, school children and adults: 1-4 capsules per day, the maximum dose for adults is 6 capsules. In preparing patients for diagnostic tests within the abdominal cavity: on the day preceding the test - 2 capsules in the evening or 2 ml drops 3 times a day and in the morning on the day of the test - 2 capsules. The preparation should be taken during or after a meal and if necessary before bedtime; the treatment should be continued until the symptoms disappear, the preparation can be administered for a longer period of time.
