Indication Salicylic acid, warts, corns and calluses, VERRUCIDE solution:

 

  • This preparation is a 10% solution of salicylic acid in an organic solvent mixture, which is used externally on the skin as a peeling agent for cornification disorders caused by warts, corns and calluses.

 

Dosage Salicylic acid, warts, corns and calluses, VERRUCIDE solution:

 

  • Always use the medicine exactly as directed. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
    • The preparation is applied to the skin areas to be treated twice a day.
    • The solution is applied to warts, corns and calluses. The preparation is to be used daily. Before each new application, the existing Pyroxylin film should be removed. The preparation only works externally and must not be ingested. When applying, make sure that the solution does not flow onto healthy skin.
    • After successful therapy, treatment should be continued for 1 week. The average duration of use is 6 weeks.
    • Experience in children is limited. For safety reasons, the maximum daily dose of 1 ml solution should not be exceeded and the total duration of use should be limited to a maximum of 6 weeks.
    • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

 

  • If you use more than you should
    • As a countermeasure, it is advisable to immediately rinse away the excess drug applied with warm water.

 

  • If you forgot the application
    • Do not apply a double dose but continue treatment as directed.

 

  • If you cancel the application
    • If the drug is discontinued prematurely, the cornification disorder may persist.

 

  • If you have any further questions on the use of the medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Side effects :
    • Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
    • The frequency of side effects is based on the following categories:
      • Very common: affects more than 1 in 10 people
      • Common: affects 1 to 10 users in 100
      • Uncommon: affects 1 to 10 users in 1,000
      • Rare: affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000
      • Very rare: affects less than 1 in 10,000 people
      • Not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data
    • Significant side effects or signs to look out for and actions to take if affected
      • If you are affected by any of the side effects listed below, stop taking the medicine and see your doctor as soon as possible.
      • After application there may occasionally be local irritation, usually a slight burning sensation, and very rarely contact allergy.
      • The following side effects may occur very rarely: telangiectasia (enlargement and proliferation of small superficial skin vessels), brown spots, photosensitization (increased sensitivity of the skin to light), dermatitis (inflammatory skin reaction), thinning of the epidermis and pigment disorders.
    • If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.

 

Interactions :
  • When used with other medicines
    • Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using or have recently taken/used other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.
    • Salicylic acid can increase the penetration of other topically applied drugs into the skin.
    • Salicylic acid absorbed into the bloodstream can increase harmful effects of methotrexate and increase the hypoglycemic effect of sulfonylureas.
  • When used with food and drink
    • You should not eat or drink at the same time during the application.
Contraindications :
  • The preparation must not be used
    • if you are hypersensitive to salicylic acid, salicylates or other components of the drug.
  • It should not be used in infants and in patients with renal insufficiency.
  • It must not come into contact with mucous membranes, in particular contact with the eyes must be avoided.
Pregnancy and lactation :
  • Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using any medicine.
  • The drug should not be used during pregnancy, except on an area smaller than 5 cm 2 .
  • It should also not be used on the breasts of nursing mothers. If the doctor considers regular treatment of large areas of skin to be necessary, breastfeeding should be stopped early, as risks due to insufficient detoxification in newborns cannot be ruled out.
Patient Notes :
  • Warnings and Precautions
    • Particular caution is required when applying the preparation near inflammations and wounds. If the eyes and mucous membranes come into contact with the drug, they should be rinsed with water.
    • The preparation must not be used on the face or genitals.
    • Warts are transmissible! To prevent the spread of infection, your own towel should never be shared with others. Do not go barefoot if you have plantar warts.
