Handling homeopathic medicines
They are not only prescribed by homeopathic doctors and alternative practitioners, but are also available without a prescription and are increasingly used in self-treatment - that is, in treatment by the patient themselves. Anyone who has no experience in homeopathic self-medication can follow the following dosage recommendation. However, it may well happen that experienced therapists deviate from this guideline in individual cases due to special circumstances.

Taking them correctly
The dosage forms, dilutions, globules and tablets work primarily through the oral mucosa. It is therefore best to let them dissolve slowly on the tongue - half an hour before or after a meal. The dosage - that is, the amount and frequency of intake - depends largely on the body's ability to react, the severity of the clinical picture and, above all, the potency of the medicine.

Basically, the information in the package insert applies; if this is not available, the following recommendation currently applies as a guideline:
Medicines with low potencies (up to D/C12) are primarily used for acute illnesses and are suitable for self-medication.

Dosage for adults:
For acute symptoms, take 5 drops or 5 globules or 1 tablet every hour until improvement occurs. Do this a maximum of 6 times a day. Thereafter, take 5 drops, 5 globules or 1 tablet 3 times a day.
It is important to reduce the frequency of taking the medication when improvement occurs!

For medium potencies, take 5 drops, 5 globules or 1 tablet 1-2 times a day. For chronic illnesses, take 5 drops or 5 globules or 1 tablet 1-3 times a day.

Medicines with high potencies (from D/C30) are generally indicated for chronic illnesses and should be given by a therapist.

Dosage for adults:
5 drops or 5 globules or 1 tablet.
The medication is taken once. It can be repeated at long intervals - after weeks or months.

Dosage for children:
For children, fractions of the above-mentioned adult dose apply:

• Infants in their first year of life receive one third,
• Toddlers up to 6 years of age about half,
• Children between 6 and 12 years of age make up about two thirds.

Giving homeopathic medicines to children is not difficult. Globules are particularly suitable, especially since they taste pleasantly sweet due to the cane sugar they contain.

In general, the intake of homeopathic medicines should be reduced as soon as the condition improves. After recovery, the medicine should be discontinued.

The initial reaction:
In rare cases, a temporary initial reaction can occur after taking a homeopathic medicine (also known as "initial worsening" because the symptoms of the disease then temporarily become more severe). This is generally harmless and can be seen as a sign that the right medicine has been chosen. However, if such an initial reaction persists for a longer period of time, you should definitely consult your doctor or alternative practitioner.

The carrier substances:
The carrier substances in our homeopathic medicines are of natural origin:

• alcohol-water mixtures in dilutions,
• Cane sugar (sucrose) in globules,
• Milk sugar (lactose) in tablets.

All homeopathic medicines must be stored dry and should be protected from excessive heat and light.
