49 AD) described the importance of the horse in oriental culture. Lladro borrowed its inspiration from the equestrian sculptures of the Tang dynasty (618

907), the golden era of Chinese art, to create this High Porcelain Oriental horse. A remodeling, on a smaller scale and with different finishes, of the Limited Edition with the same name launched in 1971, which was sold out in 1986.

Oriental horse conveys the meaning this animal held in China since ancient times: beauty, power and wealth. As in equestrian sculptures from the golden era, these pieces are depicted with great naturalism, achieved through meticulous attention to detail. The head, inclined in an elegant posture, shows off the bowed neck and prominent breast, conveying nobility and elegance.

The matte version of the Lladro Oriental Horse Figurine recreates the hues of a thousand-year-old figure aged with the patina of passing time, similar to those surviving from the golden era that are so highly appreciated by antique collectors. The chromatic sobriety of this sculpture enhances the bluish cobalt color of the saddle and the horse's neck, rendering a composition full of nuances.

Decoratively speaking, the Lladro Oriental Horse Matte Figurine 01001944 is a profusely ornamented piece. The details of the horse blanket, inspired by the doublet of medieval knights, are a result of the influence of Western culture on the Tang dynasty.
