Effectan Max is a drug used mainly to prevent motion sickness and treat nausea of ​​other origins. Effectan Max is an oral solution in a sachet. A transparent liquid with the taste and smell of black currant.

Composition:

The active substance of the drug is dimenhydramine.
Each individual sachet contains 50 mg of dimenhydramine (Dimenhydrinatum) in 5 ml of oral solution.
Excipients: Sucrose; Sodium saccharin (E 954); Propylene glycol; Purified Water; Blackcurrant aroma (propylene glycol, lactic acid, 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butanone, butyric acid, beta damascone, furaneol).

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose should be taken at least 30 minutes before a planned trip or use of a poorly tolerated drug.
Children aged 6 to 14 years: The recommended dose is 25 to 50 mg (maximum 1 sachet of Effectan Max 50 mg/5 ml). In the case of a dose of 25 mg, a drug with a lower strength, Effectan, 25 mg/5 mL should be administered. If necessary, it can be repeated every 6 to 8 hours. The maximum daily dose in children should not exceed 5 mg/kg body weight, with no more than 150 mg per day (no more than 3 sachets per day).
Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age: The recommended dose is 50 mg to 100 mg (1-2 sachets). If necessary, it can be repeated every 4 to 6 hours. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 400 mg (no more than 8 sachets per day).
The contents of one sachet should be consumed directly.

Action

Dimenhydramine (synonym: dimenhydrinate) has antiemetic, antiallergic and mildly sedative properties. The onset of action occurs after 30 minutes and is observed for 3 to 6 hours after drug administration.

Indications

Effectan Max is used for: preventing motion sickness; prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting of other origins (except those caused by cancer chemotherapy drugs).

Contraindications

Effectan Max should not be used in case of: hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or any of the excipients; acute asthma attack; narrow-angle glaucoma; pheochromocytoma; porphyria; prostate enlargement and urine retention in the bladder; epilepsy.
