What is allergic rhinitis?
Our body's immune system is the best protection against bacteria, viruses and other pathogens. Foreign substances that are in our body are simply neutralized and excreted. Sometimes our body incorrectly evaluates a harmless substance from the environment (e.g. pollen) and initiates an inappropriately strong defense reaction. Such a hypersensitivity reaction is called an allergy. The most common form of allergy is seasonal allergic rhinitis, which manifests itself for example as a runny nose or itchy eyes. If the allergic rhinitis is triggered by pollen, one speaks of a pollen allergy (Latin pollinosis), also known as hay fever.

How long is a hay fever season?
Depending on the flowering time of the various plants, early bloomers such as hazel and alder usually release pollen as early as February. As the temperature rises, tree pollen (e.g. birch) and grass pollen fly. Herbs (e.g. ragweed) do not multiply until late in the year and the pollen flies through the air until October.

How is Allvent® intens used?
