Indication :
  • The medicine is used to prevent tooth decay, to support the treatment of initial tooth decay and to treat hypersensitive tooth necks.
  • Prophylaxis:
    • The medicine is used to prevent tooth decay (caries prophylaxis), especially in children, adolescents and patients with braces, other orthodontic (orthodontic) appliances and partial dentures.
  • Therapy:
    • The medicine is used to support the treatment of early tooth decay (initial caries) and to treat hypersensitive tooth necks.
Dosage :
  • Always use the medicine exactly as described or exactly as agreed with your doctor/dentist or pharmacist. If you are unsure, ask your doctor/dentist or pharmacist.
  • The dosage listed below can be increased in times of increased risk of caries and to treat hypersensitive tooth necks. This is particularly true for patients with orthodontic appliances.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor/dentist, the usual dose is:
    • When using at home
      • For adults and children aged 6 and over:
        • Once a week, apply about 1 cm of gel (approx. 0.5 g of gel corresponding to 6.25 mg of fluoride) to the toothbrush and brush your teeth.
        • Rinse after 2 to 3 minutes. The total time of application (cleaning and exposure time) must not exceed 5 minutes. Best used in the evening before going to bed. For the targeted treatment of hypersensitive tooth necks, the medicine should be applied to the affected areas. The medicine should only be used once you have mastered spitting out the foam.
    • When used in the dental practice
      • Use approximately twice a year as part of dental treatment or for individual prophylactic activities or several times a year for patients with a high risk of caries:
        • in the miniplast splint approx. 3 g of gel (corresponding to approx. 37.5 mg fluoride);
        • Apply to the chewing surfaces and interdental spaces using the blunt cannula from a filled disposable syringe (0.5 to 1 g gel, corresponding to 6.25 to 12.5 mg fluoride).
      • The use of the Miniplast splint is indicated from the age of 8.
      • A sufficient contact time of the dental gel with the teeth (at least 2 to 4 minutes) must be ensured. However, it must not exceed 5 minutes. Rinse after use.
      • The medicine may be used in children aged 3 years and over who are under dental control because of an increased risk of caries. This applies both to children in individual prophylaxis and to those in group prophylaxis. After application, rinse with water.
    • When used in group prophylaxis
      • As part of group prophylactic activities, brush your teeth with the medication approximately twice a year, and several times a year, especially for children and adolescents with an increased risk of tooth decay. Rinse after 2 to 3 minutes. The total time of application (cleaning and exposure time) must not exceed 5 minutes.
  • Please talk to your doctor/dentist or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

  • If you have used more than you should
    • If contact time is too long, irritation of the mucous membrane can occur. In this case, stop treatment and talk to your doctor/dentist or pharmacist.
    • Only continue with the specified dosage after the symptoms have subsided.
    • Depending on the dosage and type of administration, in extreme cases (e.g. when using the miniplastic splint in the dentist's office) up to 37.5 mg of fluoride, equivalent to 3 g of gel, can be introduced into the oral cavity. Swallowing such quantities can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. In most cases, these symptoms appear within the first hour of use and resolve after about 3 to 6 hours.
    • If you experience symptoms of poisoning, you should take drinks containing calcium (milk, calcium effervescent tablets) to bind the fluoride. After that, you should see a doctor.
    • If a daily total fluoride intake of 2 mg is regularly exceeded during tooth development up to around the age of 8, disturbances in the mineralization of tooth enamel can occur. It manifests itself in the appearance of mottled tooth enamel. This disorder, also known as dental fluorosis, is no longer possible after tooth development is complete, even with higher daily doses. If you experience these symptoms, please talk to your doctor/dentist or pharmacist.

  • If you forget to use it
    • You can repeat the application at any time. Do not use a double dose if you have forgotten the previous application. Nevertheless, keep the prescribed interval of one week until the next application.

  • If you have any further questions about using the medicine, ask your doctor/dentist or pharmacist.

elmex ® gelée
Prevention of caries, for supporting treatment of initial caries and treatment of hypersensitive tooth necks

What is initial caries?
If the tooth loses minerals, what is known as initial caries develops beneath the surface. This is an early form of tooth decay in which mineral losses are limited to the tooth enamel and the surface is still intact. Initial caries usually occurs in children and adolescents on the gum line and chewing surfaces, and in adults in the spaces between teeth. Initial caries usually appears as a chalky white spot on the smooth surfaces of the teeth.

Incipient tooth decay is reversible - with elmex ® gelée
elmex ® gelée rebuilds the tooth from the inside out by replenishing lost minerals and thus reversing incipient tooth decay. Elmex ® gelée is therefore suitable for preventing caries, supporting the treatment of initial caries and treating hypersensitive tooth necks.

elmex ® gelée with highly concentrated amine fluoride
  • Reverses incipient caries through remineralization
  • Strengthens tooth enamel and reduces the risk of caries
  • Treats hypersensitive tooth necks
  • Can be used from the age of 6
  • Is suitable as a weekly intensive treatment for the whole family

ELMEX JELLY 25 g prevent tooth decay

elmex ® gelée for children, Adolescents and braces wearers
Children's teeth change from the age of around 6 years. The new, permanent teeth in particular need special protection because their tooth enamel is not yet fully hardened (mineralized) after eruption and is therefore more susceptible to tooth decay. Children and adolescents with braces also have an increased risk of tooth decay due to difficult oral hygiene.

elmex ® gelée builds up the tooth from the inside out by supplementing missing minerals. This supports the hardening of the tooth enamel and reverses the onset of tooth decay.

Application:
For adults and children over the age of 6: Apply about 1 cm of elmex ® jelly (approx. 0.5 g gel corresponding to 6.25 mg fluoride) to the toothbrush
once a week and brush your teeth. Rinse after 2 to 3 minutes. The total time of application (cleaning and exposure time) must not exceed 5 minutes. Best used in the evening before going to bed. For the targeted treatment of hypersensitive tooth necks, elmex ® jelly should be applied to the affected areas. elmex®

Jelly should only be used once you have mastered spitting out the foam.
