  • The preparation is a drug with a broad spectrum of action for the treatment of fungal diseases of the skin.
  • The ointment is used to treat inflammation of the skin and skin folds affected by yeast (Candida spp.).

 

Dosage Treatment for dermatitis, yeast (Candida), INFECTOSOOR zinc ointment:

 

  • Always use this medicine exactly as described here or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • The ointment is applied to the entire affected area with every change of aids (e.g. diapers, incontinence pads) and after every bath.

 

  • duration of use
    • Treatment should be continued for at least a week after all symptoms have disappeared. If there is no improvement after 7 days, you should consult your doctor.

 

  • If you use more than you should
    • When used on the skin, there is no risk of overdosing. If you accidentally ingest (swallow) the ointment, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur. See a doctor immediately.

  • If you cancel the application

Interactions :
  • Use together with other medicines
    • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines.
    • The ointment must not be mixed with other ointments or medicinal substances.
    • Miconazole, the active ingredient in the ointment, can inhibit the breakdown of certain drugs. Interactions after application of miconazole to the skin are unlikely. However, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the ointment if you are taking the following medicines at the same time:
      • Anticoagulants, e.g. phenprocoumon or warfarin
      • Certain medicines used to treat high blood sugar levels (sulfonylureas)
      • phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy)
Contraindications :
  • The ointment must not be used
    • if you are allergic to miconazole nitrate, related antifungal medicines, zinc oxide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Pregnancy and lactation :
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
  • Miconazole applied to the skin is absorbed into the body to a very small extent (less than 1%).
  • There are no data on whether the active ingredient is excreted in breast milk.
  • You should therefore only use the ointment during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting your doctor.
  • Please do not apply the ointment to the breast area while breastfeeding. In this way you avoid direct contact of the infant with this medicine.
