Metafen gel Forte is a drug with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. The gel contains ibuprofen and is intended for topical application to the skin, including: back pain, neuralgia or pain in diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Composition

The active substance of the drug is ibuprofen (Ibuprofenum).
1 g of gel contains 100 mg of ibuprofen lysine salt.
Excipients: macrogol 200, trolamine, carbomer 980, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, bitter orange oil, purified water.

Dosage

This medicine should always be used exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The gel should be applied topically to the skin, to the sore spot. During application, the medicine should be gently rubbed in until Metafen gel Forte is completely absorbed. After applying the gel, wash your hands, unless they are being treated. If symptoms worsen or do not subside after 2 weeks of using the medicine, consult a doctor.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 3 cm of gel should be used during application. Dosing can be repeated after at least 4 hours, but no more than 3 times a day.

Action

Metafen gel Forte contains ibuprofen, which belongs to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and inhibits the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. As a result, the medicine has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

Indications

The indications for the use of Metafen gel Forte are:
- pain accompanying diseases of the musculoskeletal system;
- back pain;
- neuralgia;
- post-traumatic pain;
- pain in mild forms of arthritis.

Contraindications

Do not use Metafen gel Forte in people who are allergic to ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or to any of the other ingredients. Contraindications to the use of this gel include: allergic skin disease or infectious disease with skin lesions, burn or skin damage. The drug should not be used if the patient has had bronchospasm, rhinitis and urticaria in the past in connection with the use of acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Using other drugs

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are currently or recently using, as well as the medicines you plan to use. There are no known interactions of topical ibuprofen with other medicines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Use in children and adolescents

Do not use in children under 12 years of age without a doctor's recommendation.
