• The drug is a herbal stimulant laxative.
• Areas of application: For short-term use in constipation (constipation). If constipation lasts longer than 1 week, consult a doctor.

• Always take the tablets exactly as directed. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• Unless otherwise prescribed:
  • Adults and young people aged 12 and over
    • The maximum daily intake must not be more than 30 mg hydroxyanthracene derivatives, which corresponds to 1½ film-coated tablets.
    • Adults and children over 12 years of age take 1 to 1½ film-coated tablets once a day in the morning or evening.
    • The personally correct dosage is the lowest required to obtain a soft-formed stool. The effect occurs after 8 - 12 hours.
• Duration of use:
  • Note: Stimulant laxatives should not be taken over a longer period of time (more than 1 - 2 weeks) without medical advice.

• If you take more than you should
  • In the event of an accidental or intentional overdose, painful intestinal cramps and severe diarrhea with the result of water and salt loss and possibly severe gastrointestinal problems can occur.
  • In the event of an overdose, please notify a doctor immediately. He will decide what countermeasures (e.g. administration of fluids and salts) may be necessary.

• If you forget to take it
  • If you take too little or if you forget to take a tablet, do not take twice the amount next time, but continue to take it as prescribed by your doctor or as described in the dosage instructions.

• Possible side effects:
  • Very rarely, spasmodic gastrointestinal complaints can occur. In these cases, a reduction in dose is required. A harmless red discoloration of the urine may occur during the course of treatment.
  • Long-term use or higher dosages (abuse) can lead to disturbances in the water and salt balance.
  • Diarrhea that occurs can lead in particular to potassium losses. The loss of potassium can lead to cardiac dysfunction and muscle weakness, especially when taking cardiac glycosides (medicines that strengthen the heart muscle), diuretics (medicines that increase urine output) and cortisone and cortisone-like substances (adrenal cortex steroids) at the same time.
  • Long-term use can lead to the excretion of protein and blood in the urine. Furthermore, discoloration of the intestinal mucosa (pseudomelanosis coli) can occur, which usually disappears after the preparation has been discontinued.
• If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.

• Taking with other medicines
  • With prolonged use or misuse, a potassium deficiency can increase the effect of certain drugs that strengthen the heart muscle (cardiac glycosides) and influence the effect of drugs against cardiac arrhythmias (antiarrhythmics). Potassium losses can be increased by the simultaneous use of certain drugs that increase urine output (diuretics), cortisone and cortisone-like substances (adrenal cortex steroids) or licorice root.
  • Therefore, if the preparation is taken at the same time as the above-mentioned medicines, it should only be taken after consulting a doctor.
  • Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using or have recently taken/used other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.

Contraindications

• The medicine must not be taken:
  • If you are allergic to cascara bark or any of the other ingredients of the medicine
  • with intestinal obstruction
  • in appendicitis
  • in chronic inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis
  • abdominal pain of unknown cause
  • severe dehydration with loss of water and salt.
  • in children under 12 years of age.
  • Due to insufficient toxicological studies, the preparation should not be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Warnings and Precautions
  • Taking laxatives that stimulate (stimulating) bowel activity beyond short-term use can lead to increased constipation. The preparation should only be used if the constipation cannot be eliminated by changing your diet or by using bulking preparations.
  • Note: In adults who are incontinent (with uncontrolled defecation), prolonged skin contact with the faeces should be avoided by changing the pad when taking the drops.
